Artist Neill Haughey from county Armagh was born in 1972 and lives in the countryside near Slieve Gullion. Having always been interested in art Neill studied it to foundation level before continuing to develop his skills through local art classes and turorials.
The natural environment has always been a source of inspiration for his work, Neill says "I love the play of light across the land which can be spectacular especially during stormy weather!" His detailed traditional landscape paintings in oils on canvas has lead to many comissioned works, across Ireland.

More recently Neill has been exploring the concept of surrealism. This has lead to the creation of imaginative dream like landscaspes covering a scene of vastness with panormic vistas.
Incorporating precariously balanced rocks and trees conveys a scene of fragility of the natural world and how mans influence can shift the balance. Combining these images with dramatic skys results in moody atmospheric thought provoking paintings.
Neill is involved with encouraging and promoting the visual arts in the Newry and Mourne area, working with cross community art groups. He is currently the chairman of the Newry Art Society.

Currently he is working upon a series of new paintings for exhibitions taking place later on in 2013.

Information regarding Dates and venues for exhibitions in 2013 can be found in the Whats New page.
